My Ode to Mumbai

My relationship with this city has always been complicated - it’s a love-hate thing.

When you’ve been away - moving back home is difficult because you have to resubscribe to the idea of who you were and how the city ties into your identity.

So when I moved back from Los Angeles, I aimed to be a tourist in my own city - do things I hadn’t done before and fall in love with the city again. Change my “I wanna get out of here" narrative and learn a thing or two about its history and culture. Rediscovering and informing my own identity through this process.

I often asked myself what makes Bombay, Bombay?

Along this journey, I found inspiration in the everyday, the streets, the architecture and the people around me. I thought it would be cool to tap into something so ordinary and overlooked yet so familiar and make people see it with a fresh perspective.
